How To... Hold a Hustings
A hustings is an open meeting where people
can ask questions directly to the candidates who are seeking election.
This allows people to hear and engage with those who want their vote.
A church based hustings event also allows
people to hear the candidate's views on topics that are not always
covered in other settings or in the candidate's literature.
Hustings are a key aspect of our democratic
system, but sadly fewer are held these days. Christians Count
encourages you to attend or host a hustings event in the run up to the
general election.
The organisation CARE is aiming to encourage
at least one church based hustings event in each constituency. Click here to check out the CARE website to see if there
is a church based hustings event in your area. If there isn't
one, then why not organise one in your constituency? CARE has
produced a comprehensive guide to help people organise these events, click here to link to CARE's
